Offshore

Fladgate’s offshore team is equipped with a broad spectrum of technical skills to complement our clients’ activities. Our client base comprises wealthy families and entrepreneurs, both UK domicile and non-UK domicile, together with the banks and professional trustees who work with them. In addition to providing bespoke solutions to complex tax, succession and private wealth management issues, we are able to provide sophisticated real estate advice and assist in resolving trust and probate disputes.

We have a substantial international dimension with much of our advice focusing on the creation of asset-holding structures involving trusts and companies based in offshore financial centres. We are able to draw on extensive overseas networks of lawyers, accountants and other advisers, and have developed close relationships with private banks and trust companies in the world’s leading financial centres, particularly London, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Switzerland, Gibraltar, Cayman, the British Virgin Islands and Cyprus.

Our contentious trust group draws on expertise from our highly-rated litigation and private client practices. The work is increasingly international and covers variation of trust, breach of trust, removal of trustees, fraud and asset tracing, constructive trust claims, validity of wills, claims against professional advisers, undue influence and breach of duty allegations.

We also act for international trust companies, advising on the full range of issues affecting them and their clients, including compliance matters, the structuring of new business, providing independent advice to settlors, reviewing problem cases and handling disputes.
