Acting for Akkeron Hotels Group Limited on the acquisition of ten hotels from the administrators of Butterfly Hotels Limited and Crowne Hotels Limited. 
Advising Akkeron Hotels Group Limited on its acquisition of 18 Forestdale hotels. The acquisition was funded with a mixture of equity, deferred consideration and a new £32m credit facility provided by Lloyd’s Banking Group.

Financing of a new substantial hotel and villa complex in Barbados including advice on the terms of the loan from a listed UK-based property development and investment company as well as negotiating shareholder arrangements in the event that the loan is converted into equity in Bacassa. The resort is to be managed by Singaporean based company, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, the first Banyan Tree property in the West Indies.

This acquisition presented particular challenges due to the complicated nature of the tax structuring which factored a possible REIT exit into the initial acquisition structure.
Advising RREEF Real Estate, part of the global alternative investment management business of Deutsche Bank’s Asset Management division, on a joint venture between RREEF and the original founding shareholders of Four Pillars Hotel Group to identify and build further sites which will be operated under the Four Pillars banner. The joint venture has already been awarded planning permission to develop its first new hotel in Harwell, Oxfordshire and has a number of other sites in the pipeline.

Advising Sanguine Hospitality, a Liverpool based hospitality development and ownership company, on the acquisition by Interstate Hotels & Resorts of Sanguine’s management platform.
Advising Snow Hill Developments LLP on the development of Kennedy Tower in Snow Hill, Birmingham (also known as 1 Snow Hill Plaza).  The Tower will be developed into a Holiday Inn Express which will be managed by Fladgate client Sanguine Hospitality Limited under a franchise agreement from IHG.
Acting for Sojourn Hotels LLP on the purchase of a vacant retail site and workshop in the city walls of York. The site has planning consent for the construction of a 102 room hotel.  Sojourn will now develop the site and open an IHG Indigo branded hotel.
