Home / Insights / Swindon Town FC saved from administration
Fladgate LLP’s sports team has acted for Swindon Football Holdings Ltd and Andrew Black on the sale of Swindon Town FC to a local consortium headed by Banbury United owner, Jed McCrory.
The deal, which is subject to Football League approval, will see Swindon Town rescued from the prospect of administration.
Under the terms of the deal, the sellers will write off most of the club’s £13m debt.
The Fladgate team was led by corporate partner David Robinson, assisted by corporate solicitor Sam Tye.
Commenting on the transaction, David said: “This transaction had to be undertaken in a one week timeframe and in a discreet manner while accommodating a number of competing interests and against a background of fast approaching administration. We are delighted to have been able to assist in stabilising the future of a well-supported football club for both the fans and the wider community.”
