Fladgate LLP is advising developer Cathedral Group on a mixed-use redevelopment of an industrial site in London’s Canning Town.
Newham Council has granted planning permission (subject to a Section 106 Agreement) for Cathedral Group’s development of the former Goswell Bakeries and Moss Electrical industrial sites. This will include the demolition of vacant factories and warehouses, making way for the construction of 336 new homes, along with 2,637 square metres of commercial space.
An off-site affordable housing contribution of £4 million will be secured though a Section 106 Agreement. Cathedral Group hope to obtain approval from the Greater London Authority and to finalise the Section 106 Agreement by the end of 2013. Construction on the site is expected to start in September 2014.
Richard Upton, Chief Executive of Cathedral Group, said: “We are delighted that Newham Council has recognised this site’s potential to deliver something quite different for the community in Canning Town and appreciated the commercial support and professional approach that Fladgate provided throughout the transaction.”
Property partners Antonia Brandes, Daniel Rubie and Alan Erwin are advising Cathedral Group, assisted by property solicitor Susanna Weatherstone.
