Fladgate strengthens construction with partner appointment

Our team: Charles Wander

Fladgate LLP is delighted to announce the appointment of construction partner Barry Hembling, who joins from Fenwick Elliott.

Barry has 17 years’ experience of acting internationally for clients in the entertainment, insurance, property, development and construction sectors on both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. He has considerable expertise of working with commercial and project delivery teams and of providing practical advice in order to minimise risks while meeting completion dates and project budgets. Prior to joining Fenwick Elliot in 2008, Barry was Legal Counsel at Alfred McAlpine Plc.

The appointment is part of Fladgate’s ongoing strategy to identify senior individuals to enhance our construction and project teams and follows that of Field Fisher Waterhouse’s Head of Construction, Alan Woolston and Rosenblatt’s Head of Projects, Construction and Infrastructure, Cathy Ley, both of whom joined the firm in 2013. Barry’s arrival brings the number of partners in the firm’s construction and projects team to eight.

Commenting on the appointment, Fladgate’s chairman, Charles Wander said: “This appointment follows a period of sustained growth for the firm and reflects our commitment to building one of the pre-eminent construction and project teams in the UK.”

Barry Hembling added: “Fladgate has made no secret of its growth ambitions. This, combined with its established construction and projects team, international focus and expertise in complementary areas, provides an excellent opportunity for me to extend the range of services on offer, for the benefit of my clients.”
