Fladgate advises Global Gaming Ventures on its new casino in Leeds

Our team: Jeremy Whiteson, Stephen Lewis, Gary Smith, Hollie Docherty

Fladgate has advised Global Gaming Ventures (Group) Limited (GGV) in relation to the real estate aspects of the financing of its new casino in Leeds.

The Gambling Act 2005 provided bidders with the opportunity to establish 8 new large and 8 new small casino licences.  GGV won two of these new large casino premises licences in Leeds and Bath and is currently competing for a third licence.

The casino is to be sited in a new retail and office complex built by Hammersons at Victoria Gate, Leeds, with John Lewis as one of the anchor tenants.  GGV are planning for the casino to open towards the end of 2016.

The Fladgate team was led by real estate partner Stephen Lewis, assisted by partners Gary Smith and Jeremy Whiteson, together with construction associate Hollie Docherty.

A team from Dentons advised GGV on the financing of the casino, with Harris Hagan providing regulatory advice.  Hammersons were represented by Eversheds.
