Fladgate LLP is leading the legal team advising shareholders who have together agreed to sell a majority stake in Swansea City Football 2002 Ltd, the holding company of The Swansea City Association Football Club Limited, to Swansea Football, LLC, backed by the US investors Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan.
The transaction values the club at £110m and is conditional on Premier League approval.
The Fladgate team comprises head of corporate Grant Gordon, senior associate Jamie Hamilton and associate Zehra Kofturcu, with sports partner Alan Wetterhahn advising on the football regulatory aspects.
Commenting on the deal Grant stated: “This transaction had to be carefully co-ordinated and undertaken in a discreet manner while accommodating a number of competing interests. We are delighted to have been able to assist our clients and in securing the future of this well-supported football club for both the fans and the wider community.”
Fladgate has a wealth of experience within the sports sector, having had an established sports practice for many years. The sports team’s clients are primarily drawn from football, motor racing, cricket, golf and cycling.
