Fladgate appoints head of tax in major boost to its corporate and private capital practice

Our team: Charles Wander, Neal Todd

Fladgate LLP is delighted to announce a major boost to its corporate and private capital practice with the appointment of partner and tax specialist, Neal Todd. Neal was previously a partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and Linklaters LLP.

Neal is an international tax practitioner with some 30 years’ experience.  He has a particular interest in cross border tax matters and EU law developments.  His work in this area has been recognised for many years in the legal directories with Chambers UK 2017 commenting:  “Neal Todd is highly recommended by clients, who say he is ‘very good, very efficient and very knowledgeable’. He possesses extensive experience in M&A, structured and asset finance and general corporate tax planning.”

Although a corporate tax practitioner by background, over recent years his practice has increasingly focused on the private capital sector, acting for individuals, intermediaries, family offices and others, especially in circumstances where individuals have significant business interests.

Commenting on the appointment, Fladgate’s Chairman, Charles Wander said:  “Neal has an outstanding reputation in his field and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.  His experience will further diversify our capability in relation to the tax aspects of corporate transactions, employment issues and tax-driven property deals.  In addition, his expertise will be of considerable value to our private capital clients, many of whom are first and second generation entrepreneurs who instruct us on their commercial affairs.”

Neal Todd added:  “Fladgate’s approach to the provision of high quality legal advice across a wide range of commercial spheres made the chance to head its tax team an appealing proposition.  I was attracted by the firm’s genuine partner-led approach and its commitment to expand this area of its business.  In addition, Fladgate’s established international dimension will complement the considerable offshore and multi-jurisdictional aspects of my practice.”
