Fladgate today launches its brand new vacation scheme and successful applicants will join the scheme in summer 2020. Starting from 2020, Fladgate will only recruit trainees through its summer vacation scheme. In addition, the Firm is increasing the number of trainee contracts from six to eight this year.
The scheme is structured to provide graduate students with the opportunity to immerse themselves into the fast paced, friendly and supportive environment at Fladgate and gain hands on experience in the legal world, before making one of their most important career decisions.
The vacation scheme is a direct response to the feedback from graduate students, who are interested in a career in law but also wanted to better understand the legal sector and to experience the Firm’s culture.
Ruth Elliot, Director of HR and Business Services, commented, “at Fladgate, we strive to attract the right calibre from graduate students to seasoned lawyers, who want to grow with the Firm and be part of the long-term success story of Fladgate.”
Andrew Bessemer Clark, Corporate Partner and Graduate Recruitment Partner at Fladgate, added, “we want to address the feedback we received from graduate students, who are eager to have a career in law but also want to make sure they are trained in a firm that suits them best. This new scheme is an important step for us, and we look forward to receiving the applications and welcoming the initial cohort of our first vacation scheme.”
Applications to join the scheme are welcome from 10 December 2019 until 1 March 2020. Around 25 students will be joining the Firm over four separate weeks, and each student will spend one week as a full time member of the Firm between June and July. At the end of the scheme, a thorough assessment will be conducted, and eight training contracts will be offered to the best of the cohort to join the Firm in 2022.
