Fladgate has advised JOOS on the negotiation and successful conclusion of a landmark agreement with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for JOOS to make available its portable mobile phone chargers to spectators and users of the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

JOOS, which provides mobile phone power banks on the go via an easy to use app-rental system, re-branded itself from ChargeBolt during 2020 and has invested significant sums in developing and manufacturing its own proprietary phone charging technology and equipment. The deal with MCC is validation of its strategy and significant milestone in its development, coming alongside several other similar deals recently signed and/or under negotiation with major venues.

Under the Chargebolt brand, the company successfully launched its product in June 2019, growing to over 1500 locations in its network.

Co-Founder of JOOS, Joshua Baah, comments “We are extremely grateful to Fladgate for their assistance with the JOOS journey so far. On behalf of the co-founders, we are incredibly proud to become the power bank provider to the most iconic Cricket Ground in the world. This deal represents only the beginning in our goal to become the global leader in on the move charging”.

Commercial and Regulatory partner, Alex Haffner comments: “JOOS are precisely the type of high growth client which our Growth Capital practice is well positioned to service. It has been great working with them since their incorporation and, in particular, on their journey to being a fully integrated provider of mobile phone charging equipment on the go. The Lord’s/MCC deal is undoubtedly a good one for both parties and we look forward to continuing to work with JOOS on their continued expansion.”

Fladgate has been involved in advising the company since its inception in 2018 and in particular on all of its corporate, commercial, intellectual property and employment related matters. Alex Haffner worked with associate Thomas Edwards to complete this deal for JOOS.
