It acted for the owner of a Dubai hotel project in relation to arrangements for technical assistance from the Taj Group; advised India’s Maneesh Pharmaceuticals, and Svizera Holdings, in connection with claims for the repayment of an outstanding loan and debt of US$38m; and is representing a UAE subsidiary of Jindal Steel & Power in relation to litigation concerning an Omani gas plant.   • Taj Dubai hotel – acting for an investment fund in relation to the purchase of the Taj Dubai Hotel in the Burj Khalifa district, Dubai; the financing of the construction of the hotel by a consortium of UAE banks; and its operation and management arrangements with Taj Group.
  • Force India F1 team – various litigation, arbitration and sporting matters including an appeal to the FIA International Court in Paris.
  • UTV Motion Pictures Plc – advising Grant Thornton, the nominated adviser, and Jermyn Capital Partners, the brokers, for UTV Motion Pictures Plc, on its admission to AIM and placing for an estimated US$70m, giving the company a market capitalisation of approximately US$302m.
  • Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd – raising of US$15m by way of foreign currency convertible bonds listed in Singapore for the largest independent producer of met coke in India.
  • Mortice – admission to AIM, following a placing by Jermyn Capital Partners, for this security and facilities management company based in India.
  • Sonata Software – multi-million pound outsourcing deal with TUI (one of Europe’s largest travel groups) for the leading Indian software service provider based in Bangalore. This deal provided for the outsourcing to Sonata of various software development, support and consultancy functions with an option for a dedicated offshore development centre to be provided for the exclusive benefit of the client.
  • Jindal Steel & Power Limited – ongoing arbitration relating to the sale of 12 river barges and ongoing litigation for its UAE subsidiary concerning an Omani gas plant.
  • First International Group Plc – setting up of investment funds for investments in Indian equities and bonds.
  • Bird Group – acquisition and refinancing of The Royal Park Hotel for India based Bird Group, a conglomerate of independent companies in the travel and technological arenas. US-based Interstate Hotels and Resorts deal with the overall management, operations, sales and distribution for the hotel.
  • Alok Industries Limited – raising of US$35m through a listing of convertible bonds on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and restructuring of its UK retail business.
  • Toto’s Restaurant, Knightsbridge and Le Chabanais, Mayfair – acting for the owners and promoters of India origin of Toto’s Restaurant in Knightsbridge, London and Le Chabanais restaurant in Mayfair, London in relation to the purchase, refurbishment and opening of the restaurants.
