Alan Karsberg is a partner in the real estate department at Fladgate.
He specialises in commercial real estate, advising investors and corporate occupiers. He has particular expertise in investment work (especially complex portfolio transactions, sales and leasebacks, and complex pre-lettings), and landlord and tenant work (acting for both landlords and major corporate occupiers).
Alan acts for Capreon UK (formerly BMO Real Estate Partners), and a number of other investors and asset managers, including a large Swedish life insurer and several private family offices, in relation to their investment and asset management work.
On the occupier side, Alan has for 19 years advised a major US investment bank in relation to its UK occupational portfolio. He also advises a leading US headquartered global professional services business, and has acted for a number of other US based businesses, including a digital marketing agency, a high profile US fashionista, a global consultancy firm, and a US law firm, in relation to their Central London occupational requirements.
Alan has recently acted for a leading global professional services business on its pre-letting of a bespoke c.100,000 square feet central London HQ. On the investment side, he advised clients of Capreon UK on the acquisition from British Land of a portfolio of retail parks and the Debenhams department store in Manchester for in excess of GBP 190m.
He qualified in 1996 and has worked at Berwin Leighton (now BCLP), subsequently becoming a partner in 2007 at Olswang and then CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang. From 2000 to 2004, Alan was a lawyer at a US investment bank. He joined Fladgate in November 2018.
