Charles Proctor is a partner in the corporate department at Fladgate.

He specialises in the areas of banking, finance and financial regulation, including diverse areas such as trade finance, asset-based lending, Shari’ah-compliant financing structures, and the regulation of credit institutions and investment firms.

Charles acts for a range of banks, lenders and investment firms, both in the UK and abroad.

A recent example of his transactional experience is the completion of a £20m asset-based lending transaction to fund the acquisition of a group of companies in the printing and advertising sectors.

Charles is a member of the Monetary Law Committee of the International Law Association. This is an “invitation only” committee that comprises lawyers from central banks, international organisations, private practice and academia. The committee meets at six-monthly intervals to review and discuss developments in the monetary and financial sectors.

Charles has published five textbooks in the sphere of banking and financial law – most notably, The Law and Practice of International Banking, a 1,000 page text published by Oxford University Press.

He holds the degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) in recognition of his published contributions in the monetary and financial law areas.
