David Breslin is a partner in the dispute resolution department at Fladgate.
He specialises in commercial disputes and international arbitration in the insurance, financial services, energy and international trade sectors. He has conducted numerous arbitrations both ad hoc and in accordance with common institutional rules (including UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, LCIA and ARIAS). He has represented sovereign state bodies in investor-state arbitration under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties (including under the Energy Charter Treaty). David also advises on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance dispute resolution with particular expertise in financial risks insurance, including professional liability, D&O and conventional fraud insurance products, cyber-risks, trade credit insurance and marine and non-marine reinsurance coverage disputes.
David acts for clients across a number of business sectors including insurers and reinsurers, brokers, financial services policy holders, marine and energy interests, international infrastructure and defence companies and sovereign state bodies in international arbitration claims.
He recently led the team representing a sovereign state body in ICC international arbitration in the successful defence of €150m claims relating to hydro-energy concession agreements, and in the successful counter-claiming for significant contractual damages and lost concession fees.
