Hetty joined Fladgate in January 2021, having spent 22 years in the family law team at a leading Lincoln’s Inn firm.

She has significant experience of handling high net worth and complex financial divorces often with an international focus and involving issues relating to off shore trusts, business valuations, pre acquired assets and non disclosure. She also has expertise in helping clients deal with disputes concerning children, including child abuse, abduction, adoption and care.  Her aim is to deliver realistic advice that achieves the best results in a cost efficient way, whether through a negotiated solution or, if that is not possible, court proceedings.

Hetty was recognised this year with a “silver” award for Citywealth’s Inspirational Woman of the year at their Power women awards.

Hetty also specialises in the area of art and cultural property law advising on issues of title, authenticity and attribution. She acted for the successful claimant in a title dispute concerning an ancient Islamic rock crystal Jar, which involved a detailed knowledge of the law and issues of evidence surrounding forged documentation. She is deputy Chair of the Treasure Valuation Committee which advises the Secretary of State on the fair market value of declared treasure finds from the UK, which museums wish to acquire. She is a fellow of the Institute of Art and Law and a guest lecturer on their diploma course as well as a guest lecturer at Queen Mary and CCLS teaching on their Art, Business and Law LLM.
