Mike is a partner in the corporate department at Fladgate.

He specialises in employment law and offers strategic and day-to-day advice on grievance and disciplinary matters, the termination of senior executives, complex discrimination and other employment tribunal claims, post-termination restriction disputes (arising both on recruitment and termination), corporate due diligence and other transactional support.

Mike acts for clients in a variety of industries including insurance, media, publishing, television, retail, hotels, fitness, restaurants and other leisure. On occasion he also advises senior executives on issues experienced at work and the termination of their employment.

Recently he has advised on the employment aspects a number of high profile disposals, including easyGym’s sale of 13 fitness clubs to The Gym Group (involving the TUPE transfer of c. 125 employees, election of employee representatives and associated guidance) and Penguin Random House’s sale of the Rough Guides travel guidebook business (involving the TUPE transfer of some 40 employees and an information and consultation process completed with the recognised trade union).

Mike has been individually recognised by Legal 500 since 2016 and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

In addition to providing specific advice to clients, Mike also writes updates and articles on employment law, and creates and delivers training and events, including speaking on an annual basis at the UK’s largest payroll conference.
