Sophia Purkis is a partner in the litigation department at Fladgate.
She specialises in the resolution of commercial disputes, particularly where allegations of fraud are made.
Sophia acts for both individuals and organisations and both claimants and defendants to claims. Many of her clients have businesses or live abroad and she has acted in many complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes.
In one of her cases Sophia acted for a former partner in an established firm of solicitors in claims for breach of FSMA, negligence and dishonest assistance arising out of technology investments schemes which were designed to be tax efficient.
She is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in civil fraud and fraud claims by Legal 500 and Chambers UK. Sophia is also recognised as a Thomson Reuters superlawyer.
Sophia is a committee member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association and the vice chairman (civil) of the Fraud Lawyers Association. She writes frequently for the legal press.
She qualified in 1998 and joined Fladgate in June 2012.
