Working with an ultra-high net worth client: Delivering a wealth of ideas

Our private wealth clients often approach us when they are facing significant moments of change, moments often made more complex by the scale and international breadth of their holdings. This is when our ability to develop an unlimited partnership with clients built on a special mix of agile, clever and enterprising solutions really count. Typical of the partnerships we develop with clients over time was an introduction to a Middle Eastern based client experiencing marriage difficulties and wanting to discuss the ownership of his UK property.

We spent time understanding both the complexities around his substantial assets in the UK, Middle East, Africa, Switzerland and EU countries as well as his wishes for his minor and adult children from both his current and a previous marriage. Having got to know the client and his priorities, we identified a number of areas where we could add value to his position. These related to estate and succession planning in respect of his establishment of asset protection structures (including in relation to his business interests); and his proposed relocation to the UK from a tax, immigration and practical perspective.

Our approach laid the foundations of a lasting relationship where we act as his advisor across all personal and business matters.
