Fladgate has a substantial international private client practice. Much of our advice focuses on the creation of suitable asset holding structures involving trusts, foundations and companies based in the offshore financial centres and also making the optimum use of onshore jurisdictions for tax treaty planning and other reasons.

In providing a comprehensive international service we draw on an extensive network of overseas lawyers, accountants and other advisers, and have developed close relationships with private banks, trust companies and other service providers from the world’s leading financial centres.

  • Scandinavian family – advising on appropriate holding structures and a tax efficient strategy for passing assets down the generations for a family with assets in France, Gibraltar, the UK and the US.
  • International probate – acting for personal representatives of international probate matters where the deceased died abroad with UK assets as well as foreign assets. Also assisting with the resealing of foreign grants in the UK or a full application for a UK Grant where resealing is not possible in order to administer a deceased’s UK estate.
  • UK resident family – advising in relation to an offshore structure in Jersey and Liechtenstein in receipt of royalty income and giving advice on the implications for the UK resident family.
