Our long-standing relationship with Angels Costumes, the world’s oldest costumier, continued with our support on the sale of Morris Angel & Son Limited (trading as Angels Costumes). The business was sold to John Gore Studios Limited, the film and television studio owned by acclaimed British entertainment producer and 25-time Tony Award winner John Gore.
The transaction marks a significant milestone for Angels Costumes, a heritage business that has been at the heart of the global film, television and theatre industries for over 180 years. We have worked closely with the Angel family throughout the process, providing support on a complex and emotionally significant transaction.
Home to more than one million costumes and accessories, Angels holds the largest privately owned costume collection for screen and stage, as well as working with leading fashion houses and designers. Its work spans iconic collaborations with filmmakers including Alfred Hitchcock, David Lean, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
Until recently, Angels Costumes was led by Chairman Tim Angel CBE, a former Chairman of BAFTA and a Governor of the BFI. Following the transaction, Emma Angel will take on leadership of the company as part of John Gore Studios, ensuring the next generation of the Angel family continues to guide this remarkable institution into its new chapter.
