Ocado was the first to use technology to revolutionise grocery shopping and it continues to innovate with newest brand Zoom by Ocado, tapping into the continued rise of same day shopping.
When Ocado was looking to develop sites for its latest On Demand grocery offering, Zoom by Ocado, they picked up the phone to us. We had helped them on previous logistics sites so we knew we worked well together. Their Zoom by Ocado brand offers a choice of 10,000 products, more than other On Demand grocery entrants, and having well placed rapid distribution means if you want a banoffee pie at 10:00 am on a Tuesday it will be with you in 60 minutes.
The business was already operating within London but they wanted to expand to Leeds to maximise an emerging market. Our teams worked together quickly to agree terms and get their rapid delivery centre operational. They chose us due to our agility and an enterprising attitude, so it was a good match.
Fladgate senior associates Ian Smith and Adam Baker advised on construction and real estate aspects of the acquisition and fit out. The rest we left up to Ocado, to keep innovating and moving the On Demand grocery market forward.
“We knew Fladgate having worked with them previously so we did not hesitate to pick the phone up to them to get them involved on our Leeds site. We enjoy working with them.”
