Supporting Accru Partners’ UK expansion through the acquisition of Wellers

News

The team behind the work

Our corporate team advised Accru Partners on its expansion into the UK through the acquisition of Wellers, one of the largest ACCA-authorised accountancy firms in the UK.

Accru is building a collaborative, future-focused professional services group by bringing together leading independent firms under a decentralised partnership model designed to preserve the entrepreneurial culture and local identity of its member firms. The acquisition of Wellers was one of Accru’s largest transactions to date and marks a significant milestone in its UK growth strategy.

The deal involved the incorporation of a general partnership into a limited company ahead of completion. Given the complexity of the transaction, we assembled a multidisciplinary team led by Josh Swerner, supported by Hamilton Forrest, Alan Wetterhahn, Jen Hawkes, Mary Liu, Isabelle McGregor, Kate Goldie, Alex Hayes, Katy Vella, Rashael Kelly-Jarvis, Helena McElroy and Amit Patel.

This transaction reflects the continued momentum in the professional services sector, where private equity-backed consolidation and platform-led growth remain key themes.

Lead Partner Josh Swerner added:

“We’re delighted to have advised Accru Partners on this complex transaction. This represents Accru’s first acquisition of an ACCA-authorised audit firm, which also required the incorporation of a general partnership into a limited company – involving our corporate, commercial and property teams in particular. In addition, it demonstrates Fladgate’s capability in a red-hot sector – private equity and sponsor-led buyouts of professional services firms.”
