I am a recognised leader in energy law specialising in renewables and low carbon energy transactions both in the UK and internationally, with particular expertise in ESG compliance, sustainability-linked financing and net zero strategies.

With over two decades' experience, I advise utilities, project developers, data centres, large industrial consumers, property developers, funders, sponsors and energy services companies (ESCOs) on the full range of energy-related transactions. Over that period, I have been at the forefront of evolving business models, financing structures and novel revenue-generating contracts across the energy sector.

My practice spans a broad range of clean energy technologies, including renewables (offshore and onshore wind, solar PV, tidal and geothermal), flexible and distributed energy (energy storage, combined heat and power, district heating and cooling and electric vehicles) and traditional power generation. I regularly advise large energy consumers on innovative projects, including data centre developments and commercial and industrial carbon reduction strategies.

I am particularly drawn to working with entrepreneurial clients who are driving innovation in the energy transition.

Experience

Advised energy storage developer Atlantic Green UK Limited on its three large UK BESS projects: Cellarhead (>600MWh), Buxton (60MWh) and Project T (>270MWh). Atlantic Green is a joint venture between Nofar Energy (the Tel Aviv stock exchange listed energy company) and Interland (the UK real estate and energy investor).

Advised the iconic 2000MW Eggborough coal-fired power station in East Yorkshire, UK on its electricity connection arrangements, decommissioning and future development plans.

Advised CGN Europe Energy, the Chinese state-sponsored developer, on the purchase of a portfolio of onshore windfarms from EDF Energy and the renegotiation of the power purchase agreements (PPAs) and the project financings.

Advised numerous data centre developers on their electricity grid connection arrangements, on-site and behind-the-meter generation solutions, PPAs and microgrid structures for their data centre projects.

Advised the master developer of the Battersea Power Station development on the procurement of an energy services company (ESCO) to provide district heating and cooling solutions for this multi-phased development site.
