Being fascinated by the markets just as much as the law, I have a genuine curiosity about my clients' businesses. In practice, that means picking the right battles, being pragmatic in negotiations, and making sure the legal process drives the transaction forward rather than getting in the way of it.
Having spent my formative years at a magic circle firm, I have since then practised in both institutional and more entrepreneurial settings. I have been lucky enough to work on a rich variety of significant transactions over the past 20 years, but have found that for me, the common denominator has always been the people involved and the excitement of understanding their businesses and helping them to achieve their objectives.
