As the firm’s Managing Partner, I am responsible for the development and execution of the firm’s overall strategic and partner recruitment objectives. When not doing that, I have a long-standing and highly active client base in the technology, betting & gaming, sport, leisure and resources sectors advising those clients on achieving their business and personal objectives through the delivery of strategic, value-added and solution-orientated structuring, corporate (public and private) and commercial advice.

I have been at Fladgate since 2008, having joined from my own firm which I set up in 2005. Initially starting out as a media & entertainment lawyer, I then switched to corporate law where, because of my initial experience with intellectual property (IP) matters, most of my clients emanated from “IP rich” industries such as technology, gaming, leisure and sport. I advise on both the IP and corporate aspects of a transaction in structuring, protecting and exploiting IP assets so as to drive enhanced value-add for my clients.

Whilst advising primarily on corporate transactions for clients (spanning everything from seed investments, private and growth capital, initial public offerings (IPO) and mergers & acquisitions), an increasing part of my work has been in advising on the structuring of corporate and private assets internationally including building out private investment and family office structures for clients.

A team with the expertise, track record and resources to service a wide range of domestic and international clients on large-scale transactions, and our clients range from entrepreneurs to quoted multinational corporations, we have particular strength and an established reputation in the mid-market.

The betting and gaming sector has rapidly expanded and evolved in recent years as ‘re-regulation’, new technologies, and changing behaviour have fostered innovation and adaptation on all fronts. We’re experienced in advising clients on this rapidly evolving regulatory environment.

Advising on venture capital and growth capital investments, the team offers extensive experience of market practice enabling the delivery of VC fundraisings in a timely and efficient manner. Clients trust the team to work on unusual and complex matters and guide them through difficult investments which are frequently first-of-a-kind.

A full-service capital markets offering from lawyers who are experts in assisting domestic and international clients in raising new equity, either through admission to the London Stock Exchange’s (LSE) Main Market, the AIM Market (AIM) or through a dual quotation if the company is already listed overseas.

Experienced litigation and commercial lawyers working together to advise clients on their full range of IP issues from trademarks and passing off, branding, confidential information and trade secrets through to designs rights, copyright, patents, IP audits and transactions.

Rapid growth and constant innovation in the way businesses and individuals use, store, trade and consume information and content are continually raising new business and legal issues. In the fast-changing media and technology sector, where many traditional approaches are under challenge, we believe that a combination of experience in contract preparation, negotiation and dispute resolution, and a detailed understanding of IP, regulatory and licensing issues are critical. Businesses require professional advisers who understand the myriad issues affecting the industry.

We act across a broad swathe of corporate matters in the UK and internationally on both public and private deals.
