I specialise in dispute resolution, with a focus on complex insurance coverage and claims.

I am a Senior Associate in the dispute resolution team, acting for policyholders, brokers, insurers and managing general agents across a broad range of commercial and insurance disputes. With over six years' experience, I advise at every stage of a dispute — from pre-action through to mediation, arbitration, and High Court litigation.

My practice includes coverage and claims across all major classes of business: including professional indemnity (PI), errors and omissions (E&O), directors and officers (D&O), crime, cyber, property damage and business interruption (PDBI), warranty and indemnity (W&I) and political risk insurance. I regularly handle high-value PI claims and those related to PDBI losses arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Much of my work has an international dimension, and I have developed a particular specialism in political risk insurance. I advise policyholders on claims arising from expropriation, political violence, currency inconvertibility, and contract frustration in challenging jurisdictions. Recent experience includes acting in a complex, high-value coverage arbitration following an overseas expropriation event, requiring detailed analysis of policy construction and quantum.

Experience

Political risk — Acting for a policyholder in a coverage dispute under its political risk policy following a multi-million-dollar expropriation of the client's business operations in Africa.

E&O / PDBI — Advising a broker client on its involvement in a Commercial Court claim by a hotelier for approximately EUR 400m in business interruption losses arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

E&O / PDBI — Acting for a defendant broker and its E&O insurers in a Commercial Court claim by a hotelier for approximately GBP 20m in business interruption losses arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

PI — Advising on a coverage dispute concerning professional indemnity claims under the Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Act 2010, involving approximately GBP 90m of losses arising from the alleged defective construction of London-based student accommodation.

PI — Advising on a coverage dispute concerning professional indemnity claims in Italy, involving approximately EUR 300m in losses arising from the sinking of a passenger ferry in the Red Sea.
