I have specialised in Employment law for more than 20 years and in that time have experience of advising on a wide range of matters across different employment law landscapes.
Having advised clients across many sectors, it is rare that I come across a query that is totally new; I aim to apply my experience for the benefit of clients - providing useful advice that meets objectives, whatever they may be.
Matters that I assist with include disciplinary, grievance and redundancy processes, advising clients on post –termination restriction issues (both on resignation and recruitment), TUPE transfers and employment tribunal claims.
I work with clients of all sizes from start-ups to sophisticated, multi-national businesses and across a range of sectors – though I would say that I have a particular expertise in supporting businesses that have PE, VC or other external investor arrangements. Advising Senior Executives on settlement agreement and other termination arrangements, including new employment offers, has also become a more prominent part of my practice in recent years.
Outside of work, I live in North West London with my family. Weekends are spent entertaining children at our local parks, attending birthday parties and visiting friends and family. I also enjoy watching football (Arsenal FC and my twin sons in the Regents Park Youth League) and cycling to work (in all seasons). I like to unwind by settling down to watch a decent tv series in the evening and pride myself on being willing to give most genres a try.
Advising a leading private equity owned estate agency business on its day-to-day employment and HR matters – including a complex grievance investigation instigated by an employee with several ongoing claims and complaints against the business. This was a difficult matter to resolve with several protected characteristics engaged.
Advising a fast-growth technology business on the removal of its CFO following a breakdown in relationship with the CEO and after many allegations and counter-allegations being made between the parties.
Advising a private equity business on complex disputes arising between members of management within one of its portfolio company groups – involving allegations of harassment and whistleblowing which risked diminishing value for all parties concerned if the matter was not resolved.
Representing a large private equity owned insurance broker on day-to-day employment matters including a number of complex employment tribunal disputes and the departure of a specialist team of employees to a new competitor. An interim injunction was obtained to prevent irreparable harm being caused to the business.
Advising a number of senior executives on their exits involving significant severance payments and packages. Recently this includes representing several CEO, MD and equivalent roles in the insurance industry leaving their employers for various reasons and advising several of them of the implications of then taking up a role with new employers; including advising on the implications in respect of existing remuneration and equity packages and the prospect of litigation against them and their new employer.
